Class 4 (UL 2218 rated) shingles resist hail impact substantially better than standard architectural shingle. Most Alberta insurers offer a premium discount for Class 4 — typically 5–15%. In hail-prone parts of Sherwood Park, south Edmonton, and rural Strathcona, the upfront cost usually pays back in premium savings plus reduced claim exposure.
Replace when: widespread granule loss, curled or cupped shingles across multiple slopes, multiple leaks, visible sagging, or shingle age over 20 years.

For most residential projects, no deposit — payment is due at completion after your walkthrough. For material-heavy projects (wood shake, metal, large commercial), we may request a deposit against materials. Details are always in the written estimate before any work begins.
